Hand Speed Trainer... improving your path to peak performance

The Hand Speed Trainer (HST) simplifies speed, power and stamina training the old fashioned way, bringing simplicity and efficiency to hockey performance training. The HST gives athletes the opportunity to resistance train at full speed in game situations as well as fundamental drill work.

The Hand Speed Trainer is a great training tool; it is very beneficial for not only the shot but also passing and stick handling as well. It is really easy to get you on and off, it doesn’t affect your mechanics unlike other hockey training products will. The Hand Speed Trainer allows players to train smarter, more efficiently. Players are able to concentrate on their arm movements, focusing on better arm control. The Hand Speed Trainers will have an impact on all levels. Players can adjust the weights in 4 ounce increments, they can train with a little bit of weight or a lot of weight depending on the player and their skill level. With players getting bigger and stronger the Hand Speed Trainer is going to help them increase their shots and get an edge on the competition.

Weight training is an integral part of the any ice hockey training plan, it must be specific. Increased lean mass is not the only goal of strength training. Gains in maximal strength are only useful on the rink if they are converted into explosive power and power endurance. Sport-specific strength training programs are fundamental to an athlete's development and success. High levels of strength are a prerequisite to superior speed, power, strength endurance and overall sport performance. Most strength training programs fall well short of what an athlete requires. The principle of specificity states that training should mirror the demands of the sport as closely as possible (1). This applies not only to way the body's energy systems and neuromuscular system is taxed but also to the movement patterns of each exercise. Athletes should train movements rather than muscles.

Hockey athletes must optimize their time and energy by choosing only the most appropriate resistance exercises saving energy for other types of training. Strength training programs for sport ultimately must develop either explosive power or muscular endurance. Most athletic movements occur much more rapidly and demand significantly more power than lifting maximal loads. If maximal strength is not converted into sport-specific power, athletic performance will not improve - certainly not to the extent that it could. The Hand Speed Trainer allows hockey players to train this sport-specific power by adding resistance to the forearms that does not interfere with their wrist and elbow function and has ne effect on their biomechanics.

While many sports are dominated by powerful, explosive actions some athletes are required to overcome a relatively low resistance but for a prolonged period of time. Just as power athletes should convert maximal strength into explosive power, endurance athletes should aim to convert maximal strength into muscular endurance. Used consistently, the Hand Speed Trainer allows athletes to train at full speed over the course of the entire practice under resistance.

The Hand Speed Trainer allows hockey athletes to train the combination of the two - power and strength endurance - developing both simultaneously without one negating the other.

For the first time ever you will be able to resistance train at Game Speed using Your Own Equipment in Live Situations!

CAUTION: Always consult your Physician or General Practitioner before performing any physical activity. Always check equipment for worn or damaged parts before each use and do not use if damaged. Weights are subject to a variation of + or – 5%. Some individuals may be sensitive to neoprene or neoprene blend rubber. If rash develops discontinue and consult a physician.

Functional training involves small increases in resistance to YOUR sport specific muscle groups. The HST™ is designed to meet YOUR individual needs and skill level. Training programs can be modified to reach YOUR performance goals. Start small, increase slow and watch your game reach new levels!
